Context

The Democratic Republic of Congo has been facing various crises and conflicts that have severely affected the eastern regions of the country for more than two decades. The country currently has the largest population of internally displaced persons in Africa, with more than 5.2 million displaced people, including 1.4 million in Ituri province alone.
 
In 2021, the number of people in need is estimated at 5 million for the shelters, including 2 million people targeted. For AMEs, 2 million people are in need, including 1.4 million targeted for this year.
 
 
 

Strategic Objectives

Access to dignified and decent housing is provided to improve the physical and mental protection, standard of living, well-being, health and access to basic services of people affected by displacement.
 
Immediate access to essential household items, including intimate hygiene kits, is provided to people affected by displacement to enable them to cover their vital needs that preserve their physical and mental integrity, reduce their vulnerability and improve their living conditions.

- 164 393 personnes soit 28 072 ménages assistées en Abris et 325 676 personnes soit 49 759 ménages assistés en AME entre janvier et mars 2021.

- Interventions mises en œuvre dans 5 provinces de la République Démocratique du Congo (RDC) à savoir la Tshopo, l’Ituri, le Nord-Kivu, le Sud-Kivu et le Tanganyika.

- Les réponses Abris ne représentent que 8 % et les réponses AME 23% des cibles sectorielles du Plan de Réponse Humanitaire pour 2021.
