Agenda:

  • 2.00 - 2.05: Welcome, revision and approval of the agenda.
  • 2.05 - 2.10: Brief description of the initiative.
  • 2.10 - 2.20: Part I: Issue of focus: discussion and decision on the issue of focus for the first edition. There is a proposal that the first edition should set the stage for future editions and therefore should aim to define the scope of what we do. The current proposal is therefore that the issue of focus for the first edition is “What is humanitarian shelter?” and there onwards we can address more specific issues (such as urban response, settlements approach, HLP, cash, BBS, etc.) in future editions.
  • 2.20 - 2.30: Part I: tone and style for articles and contributions for part I: Part 1 is a series of articles by leading thinkers, practitioners and representatives from a diversity of those engaged in addressing the issue of humanitarian shelter needs from humanitarian agencies, donor and affected governments, researchers and academics, around a common thematic area of interest which each edition will focus on. What should be the tone and style of these contributions? Should they be research-based, opinion pieces? What degree of academic rigor do we want these articles to have?
  • 2.30 – 2.50: Part II: what information and data should we collect and measure?: Part 2 is a mapping and statistical analysis of current humanitarian shelter needs and responses as well as trends and evolution of the shelter and settlements sector within the humanitarian system, including cause and effect relationships and the dynamics imposed by those trends, and evolutionary paths on the humanitarian system as a whole. What data and indicators should we collect and track for this? What are the sources of information?
  • 2.50 - 3.00: Next steps: ToRs and commissioning of consultancy for part II and lead editor. Call for EoIs to contribute articles to Part I.
