Description
  • Training National Ministry on Damage Database- On 1 November 2017, the Shelter/NFI Cluster team provided a training to 10 focal points for the Ministry of Temporarily Occupied Territories on the damage database. This training provided reinforcement to national focal points and to further relationships that have been formed at local level. In the next few months, it is foreseen, that the Shelter/NFI Cluster will continue such trainings at local level and also at national level to ensure that the interactive portal becomes operational and that local authorities can also find a quick and interactive way to communicate their shelter needs to both local and national levels.
  • Special technical working group on Structural Repairs- On the 20th of November, Shelter Cluster partners including NRC, PiN, ADRA, and ICRC participated in a special technical working group to discuss the revision of the Guidelines on Structural Repairs and Reconstruction. Agencies discussed some of the key lessons learned and outcomes of programming. In January 2018, the Shelter Cluster Team will produce the revision. This version will include a one pager on how to conduct a technical shelter assessment, review on relevant legislation, indicators for post distribution monitoring, and humanitarian versus development structural repair and reconstruction interventions.
  • Humanitarian Response Plan 2018- In November, 13 Shelter/NFI Cluster partners developped 16  projects which will form part of the Humanitarian Response Plan 2018. Consistent with a protracted situation and the realistic assumption about capacity for implementation, 11 projects were only modified slightly presenting a 6% decrease in funding request for the Shelter/NFI Cluster as compared to the whole Humanitarian Response Plan request, which was 13% less than last year. Shelter/NFI Cluster partners are targeting 172,000 people in need in 2018.
  •   Release on Winterization Update- At the end of December, the Cluster will release on a two-pager on the status of winterization.
