Objectives

At the end of the session the participants will be able to:

  • Clarify the concept of the settlement approach and what it means for shelter coordinators.

  • Reflect of site planning and settlement approach in action.

  • Describe the importance of site planning in shelter coordination.

 

Outcomes / outputs indicators

  1. Participants understand the settlement approach

  2. Participants understand the relevance of site planning in shelter work and coordination and work out the necessary resources.

  3. Participants exchange through peer learning.

 

Key message:  

  1. Having a settlement perspective is as important as the shelter solutions.

  2. A settlements approach helps bridge humanitarian and development work.

  3. Better site planning increases the dignity of affected populations.
