At the GSC Meeting 2020, GSC partners raised awareness and understanding of the multisectoral impact of shelter and settlements assistance. The GSC Meeting 2020 showed shelter is not only a human right in and of itself, but it also facilitates the achievement of many other human rights, such as health, education, water and sanitation and others. The provision of shelter facilitates the achievement of other basic needs.

This session of the GSC Meeting 2021 aims to dive a little deeper into the multisectoral impact of shelter by looking into three key issues and identifying specific actions the GSC and its partners can take in relation to those issues to ensure their activities support broader outcomes. The three key issues are as follows:

1. Evidence, Research and Advocacy.

2. Shelter and Protection.

3. Locally led multisectoral response.
